How to do an interview warmup on your phone
You can rehearse an interview in a phone browser when the browser can use your microphone. The camera is optional for Practice, so you can continue with audio only. Prepare a stable connection and quiet place, then choose a role and skills for an AI led round. Menu labels and availability vary by device and browser.
A short setup check before the round can prevent avoidable interruptions. Test the microphone, decide whether to use the camera, and place the phone where you can speak without holding it.
What should you prepare before opening the browser?
Prepare a charged phone, a steady connection, and a quiet place where you can speak at a normal volume. Put the phone somewhere stable so you are not holding it throughout the round.
- Charge the phone or connect it to power before you begin.
- Close calls, music, recording tools, and other apps that may use the microphone or camera.
- Turn off notifications that could cover the screen or interrupt your train of thought.
- If you use video, place the phone at eye level and keep your face inside the camera view.
- Use a quiet room. If the camera is on, avoid a strong light directly behind you.
A headset can reduce room noise, but it is not required. If you use one, record a short voice note first so you know which microphone the phone selected.
How do you start a Practice round?
Open the account page and use email and password, Continue with Google, or Create account. Practice and The One are separate modes. Choose Practice for rehearsal, then set the role, skills, and duration. You can also paste a job description when it would help shape the generated questions.
Open Just One Interview to practice. Sign in, choose Practice, then check the remaining allowance for your plan before setting up your round.
How do you allow microphone and camera access?
Allow microphone access so the browser can hear your spoken answers. Camera access is optional in Practice because the setup can continue with audio only. If you choose video, allow the camera as well.
- Open the browser's site information or permission control for the current page.
- Set the microphone permission to Allow.
- If you want video, set the camera permission to Allow. Otherwise, continue with audio only.
- Reload the page so the new setting takes effect.
- Check the setup view again before starting the round.

What if the microphone does not work?
First check whether another app is using the microphone, then review the browser permission for the site. A call, voice recorder, or meeting app can keep control of the input even when it is in the background.
- Close other apps that use audio and reload the page.
- Disconnect a headset if the phone may be using the wrong microphone.
- Check the site permission and allow microphone access.
- Record a short voice note outside the browser to check whether the device microphone works.
- Restart the browser if the permission is correct but the input still does not appear.
If a voice note also has no sound, the issue is likely with the device or selected input rather than the interview page. Fix that before using another available round.
What if the camera does not work?
You can continue in Practice with audio only. If you prefer video, check the browser's camera permission, close other apps that may be using the camera, and reload the page after changing access.
If the picture is dark, face a light rather than placing it behind you. If the view is frozen, turn the camera off and continue with audio, or reopen the page before the round begins.
What if the connection drops or the page stalls?
Move to the more stable connection available to you and stop other downloads or video streams. Do not keep pressing the start control while the page is unresponsive.
Reload once and return to your account. Check whether the earlier round appears before setting up another one. If the problem repeats, note what happened and which step failed so support can understand the issue.
How do you make phone practice useful?
Use short cue words off screen and focus on one answer improvement at a time. If the camera is on, look near it when you begin and end an answer. A small screen makes long notes hard to follow and can pull your attention away from speaking.
