Muse vs OpenAI Dots: which AI agent can help your job search?

Giving the interview · Updated 2026-09-30

Muse, from Meta, and dots, from OpenAI, are AI agents that go on doing your tasks after you leave the app. Muse costs nothing to start but is limited to the United States and Canada. Dots come with ChatGPT Pro, from $100 a month, and work in India and the UAE.

If you are job hunting outside North America, only dots are open to you right now.

Each one works from a cloud computer reserved for you, so a locked phone does not stop it. Each uses the accounts you link, and each stops to ask you at sensitive points.

Meta built Muse for everyday errands. For a job seeker, that means small jobs, e.g., booking a time slot or reminding you about an interview. In the United States, Muse can also ring a business on your behalf. If you live in the US or Canada, its free tier is a cheap way to see whether an AI agent saves you time.

Muse is not open anywhere else yet, including India and the Gulf, and Meta has not given a date for more countries. For most readers of this guide, that settles it for now.

OpenAI built dots for longer work, and a job search runs for weeks. A dot could keep a running list of the roles you are going for and read each job description as it arrives. It could also prepare notes before each interview and message you when a recruiter writes back.

The costs are money and setup. A dot needs ChatGPT Pro at $100 a month or more, and you have to create it on a computer, because you cannot create one on a phone. What OpenAI Dots can and cannot do for your job search covers the setup step by step.

How each one checks itself

Meta pairs Muse with a guard AI agent called Sentinel. Meta says Sentinel has to allow anything Muse sends out to the internet. Muse pays for things through Link by Stripe, so it never sees your card number.

OpenAI takes a different route. You give your dot a rule for each type of action, and the rule says whether it may act alone or must ask. On top of that, an OpenAI system named auto-review inspects risky steps, e.g., an outgoing email, before they happen. Password changes and money transfers are always left to you.

Whichever you use, read every message before it goes to a recruiter. The recruiter will assume you wrote it.

Which one should you pick?

  • If you live in India or the Gulf, dots are the only choice, and only if $100 a month is worth it to you.
  • In the US or Canada, with errands to hand off, start with Muse on its free tier.
  • If money is tight, skip both for now. A calendar with reminders and a simple list cover most of the admin.
  • If you live in the EU or the UK, Muse is not open to you, and dots come only through a company's Business Premium or Enterprise plan.

Neither one can sit your interview

Both AI agents can help you reach the interview, e.g., by booking the slot. The interview itself is you, speaking. Practise that part out loud before the day. A practice round on Just One Interview runs in your browser, and the report scores each of your answers.

Common questions

Is Meta Muse available in India?

Not yet. Meta has limited Muse to the US and Canada so far, with no date for other countries.

Is OpenAI Dots available in India?

Yes. ChatGPT Pro subscribers in India can use dots once the rollout reaches them. The launch exclusions are the UK, Switzerland and the European Economic Area.

Which is cheaper, Muse or OpenAI Dots?

Muse. You can use it free, and more use costs $20 or $100 a month. There is no free dot, and Pro starts at $100 a month.

Can Muse or Dots send my CV to a recruiter?

Yes, if you connect your email and allow it. Check each message before it goes, because the recruiter will read it as coming from you.

Does Muse or a dot run on my phone?

No. The work happens on a cloud computer reserved for you, and the phone is only the screen you chat on.
