What is an AI interview warmup?
An AI interview warmup is a short spoken rehearsal run by an AI interviewer. It generates questions for the role you choose, listens while you answer aloud, and gives you feedback on the content of your answers afterwards. It sits between reading tips and a full mock interview: fast enough to repeat, real enough to expose weak answers.
How does an AI interview warmup work?
You tell it what to rehearse, it asks, you speak, and it reports. In Just One Interview, a Practice round is built from the role, skills, and duration you choose, and you can paste a job description so the questions reflect a specific opening. You answer aloud, and the Reports area shows a report with coaching feedback after the round.
Practice is not recorded on video, and hiring teams never see it. The text of your answers and your report are saved to your account so you can track what changed between rounds.
How is it different from the old Google Interview Warmup?
The old Google tool asked questions from a fixed set and showed patterns in your wording, such as your most used terms. It was retired in April 2026. An AI warmup differs in two ways that matter for preparation.
| Point | Google Interview Warmup | AI interview warmup |
|---|---|---|
| Questions | A fixed set by career area. | Generated for the role, skills, and job description you choose. |
| Feedback | Patterns in your wording. | Comments on the content of your answers, with coaching feedback. |
| Status | Retired in April 2026. | Available now. The free plan includes 20 minutes a month. |
If you came here looking for the old tool, the availability guide covers what happened to it.
What does a good warmup round look like?
- Choose the role and two or three skills you want tested.
- Write down two real examples that show those skills, with three cue words each.
- Run a short round and answer aloud without stopping to edit yourself.
- Read the report, pick one improvement, and run one more short round.
Keep rounds short. The value is in the loop of answer, feedback, retry, not in the length of any single session. The ten minute routine is the same loop without a tool.
When is an AI warmup the right choice?
Use it when speaking is the weak part: you know your examples but hesitate, ramble, or bury the result. It is also the right check in the final days before a real interview, because generated questions stop you from only rehearsing the questions you hoped for.
If you have never faced an AI led interview before, it also removes the format surprise. Many companies now run a spoken AI round first, and passing an AI interview is easier once the format feels normal.

What an AI warmup cannot do
It cannot invent your examples, and it cannot promise an interviewer will ask the same questions. Treat it as a gym, not a script. The facts you bring and the review you do after each round are still the parts that move the result.
